Elders Nomination .png

The process to select elders at Legacy is outlined in our church by-laws.  One of the reasons for this is that we can’t afford to take any shortcuts when it comes to the local leadership of Legacy.  God, in His wisdom, told Paul to appoint elders in every city to help guide the local churches.  There are three main places that the Bible describes the qualities that should be considered for an elder (see 1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-5).  Paul also shares a heartfelt farewell to the elders in the Ephesian church after 3 years of discipleship (Acts 20:17-38).

The elders have approved the suggestion from the Elder Nomination Team for new elders to serve beginning in January 2022, pending congressional approval.  The men we are now asking our Legacy members to affirm are Nelson Bingel, John Bowen Sr., and Tim Davis.  As stated in the by-laws, we will now allow 2 weeks for careful and prayerful consideration before we allow our members to vote.  As you consider these men, the question we are now asking is, “Do you believe these men are biblically qualified to serve as elders?”

There will be a nomination box in the foyer Sunday, November 28th, and December 5th.  Please make sure you sign your name on the form.  Submissions without names or ones from non-members will not be considered.

John Bowen
My beautiful wife and I were married in September of 1981 and we have 3 children all of whom are currently worshiping and serving in their various local churches. One in Senoia, one in Newnan, and one in Owassa Oklahoma. We have 6 grandchildren, 5 with us and 1 in heaven. I was a 40 year veteran of Delta Airlines when I retired in August of 2020

Nelson Bingel
Nelson Bingel and his wife Carol are originally from Buffalo, NY and moved to Senoia in 2006.  They have attended Legacy since the first opening service and are excited for how God has moved the church through the past turmoil and Covid 19.  They have three grown sons, two of which moved to Senoia with their families, and have also been blessed with 10 grandchildren.  Together they enjoy facilitating small groups and Nelson also has a passion for men's ministry.

Tim Davis
My wife Renee and I have been married for almost 30 years and are very proud of our four adult children; Amber, Ellory, Colby, and Alyssa. We are blessed to be part of the Legacy Church family and have been faithfully attending since we moved to the area. I am an executive in the transportation and logistics industry and have been involved with church leadership in various roles, on and off, over the last 10+ years.
